Frequently Asked Questions

Currently we are not restricting how many people may attend with each dog, but space is limited. If looking to bring more than two extra people, please e-mail us at info@allaboutdogs.ca prior to your class to check.

Our Never Too Late obedience program is suitable for dogs of age 4 months and up. It is a Beginner Obedience class tailored to give you the training tools to start your dog off on the right foot (or paw!)
Puppies can start as early as 8 weeks old! Our First Paw Forward program is designed to get puppies started with training right after they arrive home. It is never too early to get them started with training.
Unfortunately we are not able to provide refunds for missed classes. If you are going to miss a class for any reason, please let us know ahead of time if possible. The instructors are able to send class notes on what was practiced or taught during the session. It is the responsibility of the student to attend their classes.

Agility is a fantastic sport! Dogs of all breeds and sizes are welcome, and it offers many benefits to the dogs and handlers. Before starting in agility, we require that dogs have taken at least one level of obedience classes in a group setting. This is to help set them up for success. Some of the skills that are required in agility include basic obedience and mat training, but also the ability to work and focus with the owner around distractions.

If you haven't done a group class yet, we would recommend to start with our Never Too Late program, which is a beginner obedience class. Once your dog is ready to start in agility, we offer Beginner Agility courses all year round!

To ensure everyone gets ample attention in classes, and as well to keep numbers safe, we currently allow six dogs per class, with the exception of puppy school which can have a maximum of seven

This can be difficult to gauge, as some dogs may bark a little, or have certain triggers, but if they are able to settle and can be redirected then it is usually not a problem. However, if you don't think your dog will be able to stop barking in class, then unfortunately a group class may not be the correct fit initially. A barking dog in class makes it hard for the instructor to be heard, and can cause disruption and difficulty during class for other students and dogs. Depending on the cause of barking, it may be beneficial to book a private lesson to work through this behaviour first. If you are uncertain, please contact us to discuss if a group class would be the right fit for your dog.

Dogs are required to have age-appropriate vaccines before the start of class.
    • For puppies, they only require their first set of puppy shots before starting in the First Paw Forward program
    • For dogs 6 months and older, they require DHPPV and Rabies
A copy of their vaccine records can be e-mailed to us prior to their class, or brought along with you.
Group classes are the equivalent of a school for people, but you attend with your dog. An instructor provides lessons and exercises to practice during the class, and assigns some homework exercises to continue working on at home. Due to the nature of a group class, we ask that you please be on time, and don’t speak while the instructor is talking so that everyone may hear the instructions and information given.
