Distance & Directionals Workshop

Description:

Distance & Directionals

with Renée deVilliers

Sunday, March 19, 2017
Time: 1:00pm – 4:30pm

[dt_gap height="10" /]

The best foundation for distance communication and control is imbedded in your understanding of

  1. a) How to steer your dog and
  2. b)  Understanding of your dog’s viewpoint on any given course

When driving your dog from “up close” mistakes can be corrected or an off course fault avoided through a little panicking and some arm flapping but once you start working with distance mistakes and communication errors can become glaringly obvious and unfortunately the more errors you make the harder it becomes for your dog to trust your guidance when being directed from far away. Incorporating distance handling into every course is necessary to be able to handle your dog speed on increasingly difficult courses. This workshop covers:

Increased lateral distance

Running ahead or behind your dog

Maintain a curved path or straight line

Use pressure to your dog’s path to increase distance
