Beginner Show Handling

We offer show handling classes for those looking to prepare their young dogs for the conformation show ring. There are also advanced level classes giving experienced handlers an opportunity to fine tune their show rings skills.

Our conformation show handling classes are designed to help prepare you and your dog to be successful in the show ring! To show confidence and ease of motion takes skill and practice.

During these classes we will be breaking apart the basic elements you need to learn. As the handler you need to understand the show ring etiquette: how to enter, where to stand, when to move forward and how to execute the judges requests.

We will also identify the training and abilities that will be expected of your dog and help ensure that your dog is comfortable level with all the required elements: movement, stacking, holding position, as well as the touching and restraint that will occur. In order for your dog to be shown in the ring with flare, he or she also needs to be happy and confident with the required tasks.

We offer a very individualized approach to these training sessions so that you and your dog can benefit in the areas you need to see most improvement.

Our instructor for this program is Shianna Fairley.

Shianna first entered the show ring with her beautiful young Rhodesian in 2008. Her background in equestrian hunter jumper has given her a wealth of experience in how to prepare for ring nerves and show well under pressure.

Shianna is currently our very popular Rally Obedience instructor and competes with her two beautiful Australian Shepherds in Rally, Conformation, Agility and Scent. We hope to have Shianna  bring her Scent work skills to a training program soon. Shianna is a dedicated positive trainer.  Anyone who can train a cat to do Rally Obedience must have some serious patience and a genuinely positive nature.

Shianna loves teaching both people and dogs (and other animals!) and takes joy in her students achievements.

  • Can’t recommend the Show Handling class enough!! The content is fantastic. I’ve done drop-in classes, and full-day seminars and I got more out of one class than all the other’s combined.

As responsible owners, it is important to know the variety of hazards that pets can unwittingly be exposed to and prevent the possibility of injury, illness, and premature death or disability.
