Dog Agility

[dt_fancy_title title=”Puppy Agility Class” title_align=”left” title_size=”h3″ title_color=”accent”]

This class is open to puppies four to seven months old, who can join as a follow up to, or in conjunction with, the puppy socialization and training program. In this class, your puppy will continue to improve upon the basics: sit, down, stay, focus and impulse control.

Emphasis will be on improving your puppy’s confidence and relationship with you through toy training. This teaches the dog to play appropriately with you even around other dogs. Puppies will also be introduced to restrained recalls, target and trick training as well as to low level agility equipment, such as: tunnels, planks, tippy boards, and ladders.

Agility is a fabulously fun sport that can be played by people and dogs of all ages and sizes! You and your dog navigate a series of obstacles using only verbal commands and body language. Most dogs love to run, jump and climb, so they quickly get hooked on training and playing with you which develops a strong relationship between you and your dog.

Dogs of any age can get involved and can enjoy this fun sport! Puppies can start as young as four months in our special Puppy Agility program. All dogs under the age of 18 months will jump a lowered jump height to prevent any injury during their growing phase.

Day time, evening and weekend classes are available year round at our new indoor facility. We offer weekly classes from foundation level to competitive level classes. We also offer a variety of workshops, seminars and frequent fun events to enrich your agility training program.

At All About Dogs we host regular agility fun matches all year round. Fun matches are an excellent way to get you and your dog acclimatized to all aspects of agility competitions. At each match there are three or four different courses set up at various skill levels. Handlers are given an opportunity to memorize the course and prepare their handling strategies.

Each dog and handler team is given a 2 two-minute time period to complete the course and train in the ring. Toys and food rewards are permitted. This is a great way to add in a little extra agility practice time for you and your dog!

Please check our schedule regularly for upcoming fun match dates.

Our fantastic House League program is in the Fall/Winter months between October and April. House League dates are held one Sunday a month at our All About Dogs location. House League participation allows our All About Dogs Agility students to hone their skills in a safe, fun, enthusiastic, and most importantly, positive environment. We create awesome teams, not so much for competition, but for comradery amongst participants. We have House League apparel and seasonal potlucks for the holidays and end of House League, to bring us together as a group and to get to know each other!

To ensure all our students can participate, we have a Beginners/Intermediate Level League and an Advanced/Masters Level League.

Our Red Hot Summer House League program is held in the summer months between May and September. Summer League dates are held one Sunday a month, off-site at a Guelph area farm and held outdoors. House League participation allows our All About Dogs Agility students to hone their trial skills in a fun, positive outdoor environment, which helps those who want to trial – most trials are outdoors. We have Summer League apparel as well.  Summer League is relatively new to All About Dogs and allows us to get together as a group and to get to know each other and enjoy the beautiful weather with our dogs and friends!

To ensure all our students can participate, we run nested courses that allow all levels to run each course according to their skill level.
